ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jon Michael Iverson is a lifelong musician and educator exploring AI as a new musical instrument. His work seeks to create emotionally resonant music across genres and traditions while protecting human creativity, live musicianship, cultural integrity and intentional listening.
A NEW INSTRUMENT. AN OLD COMMITMENT.
I have spent my life inside music.
The piano came first. Then performance, composition, electronic music, MIDI, notation, teaching, research, and musical leadership. I have spent decades learning how music is made, how it is taught, how it is performed, how it lives inside communities, and—most importantly—what it can do to a human being.
AI is simply the newest instrument in that continuing journey. I did not arrive here by leaving music behind. I arrived here by following music forward.
I believe deeply in human-made music. I believe live musicianship is irreplaceable. I believe the physical act of a person making music—breathing, touching an instrument, singing, listening, responding, improvising—is something no technology should diminish. That commitment has not changed.
What has changed is the instrument in my hands.
AI gives me a new way to explore musical possibilities, discover unexpected connections, and bring ideas into sound. But the technology does not decide what matters. I do. The imagination, intention, taste, judgment, listening, and responsibility remain human.
My purpose is not to prove that machines can replace musicians.
It is to discover what becomes possible when a musician and a new instrument create together.
A NEAR LIMITLESS PALLETTE
These three principles form the foundation of my creative work: the ethics with which I create, a vision of my artistic statement, and a documented manifesto of my belief. Together, they explore what music can become when technology serves human creativity, connection, and meaning.
HUMAN-FIRST ETHICS
Ethics are not a policy.
They are a practice.
The work of making music carries moral weight — in how it is created, how it is shared, and whose lives it enters. Human-First Ethics means that every decision, including the use of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, begins with a single question: does this serve people? Not trends. Not convenience. Not the market. People.

A voice is not chosen.
It is uncovered.
My practice is rooted in craft, driven by curiosity, and held accountable by a commitment to emotional truth. Whatever the form, whatever the tools, the standard never changes: the work must mean something.

Music belongs to everyone. It carries civic and moral weight, and the people who make it, teach it, and share it are doing something essential. This is not nostalgia. It is an argument for the future — one in which music is treated not as a commodity, but as a public good and a shared human inheritance.
